Dr Steven Hardman

Steve is a highly experienced and qualified practitioner (Registered Nurse), educator and leader, with a passion for promoting clinical excellence in contemporary clinical practice methodologies. Steve has significant senior experience in clinical practice and undergraduate, postgraduate and clinically-based education both within Australia and the UK, with over 30 years continuous experience as a clinical nurse and over 20 years’ experience as an educator.
Steve’s roles have included management and leadership roles in both clinical and academic environments in addition to his service as a Commissioned British Army Officer (Captain), responsible for delivering critical care within a trauma-based environment.
With over 28 years intensive care experience, Steve’s primary area of clinical expertise lies within acute and critical care nursing, the management of the clinically deteriorating patient, critical care outreach, resuscitation, advanced life support and practice-based education.
Steve’s experience in academia includes course coordination, teaching, assessment, research supervision, curriculum development, senior leadership and management. His roles have included working as a Senior Lecturer, Program Lead, National Undergraduate Program Coordinator and Assistant Dean.
Steve’s wealth of clinical and educational experience is supported by substantial qualifications, including several post graduate qualifications including a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), Master of Science, Post Graduate Certificate in Critical Care, Post Graduate Certificate in Education (FE & HE) teaching qualification, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons), as well as post graduate clinical qualifications from the ENB (UK) for the ENB100 General Intensive Care course and the ENB998 Teaching and Assessing course.
In addition, Steve maintains his roles as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) instructor and Course Director for the Australian Resuscitation Council, and Acute Illness Management instructor.
